Rhodium plating is what gives white gold its silver-white appearance. Over time, the rhodium plating can wear (particularly on rings and bracelets), giving your white gold jewelry a yellowish tone. If you wear a ring every day, you may need to have it rhodium plated every 6 months to a year. Jewelry worn less frequently will only need to be rhodium plated every 2-3 years.
Rhodium plating is also often added to make the jewelry hypoallergenic and to increase the resistance to scratches or scuffs.
Biondi provides rhodium plating in house. If you purchased your jewelry from Biondi, it is free to have your piece rhodium plated up to twice a year. For jewelry purchased outside of Biondi, rhodium plating cost $115 per piece.
