Pearls are strung on silk thread and knotted between each bead, a delicate construction that keeps them from scattering if the strand ever breaks. Over time that thread absorbs the oils, dust, and everyday wear that slowly weaken it, until one day a favorite necklace gives way at the worst possible moment.

Regular restringing prevents that heartbreak. If you wear your pearls often, we recommend restringing about every two years. For pieces worn only now and then, every five years keeps them secure and beautiful.
