Biondi provides a variety of jewelry repair services, including prong repair and retipping, ring resizing, and jewelry restoration. For your peace of mind, any time a diamond is left for a repair that is over half a carat, we’ll show it to you under a microscope and hand plot any inclusions or other unique identifiers. When you pick up your jewelry, we’ll show you the diamond again under the microscope to ensure that you return with the correct diamond.
1. Prong repair & retipping
Because diamonds are harder than metal, over time the diamonds wear down the prongs of your ring. If your ring catches a thread, this is a sign that your ring may need to be repaired. Bring in your jewelry every 6 months for a free cleaning and inspection and Biondi will recommend when it’s time to retip or repair your prongs.
2. Ring Resizing
Whether you need to go a size up or a size down, ring resizing guarantees you’ll never have to go too long without wearing your favorite rings. However, not all resizing methods are the same. At Biondi, we typically cut the ring and add in a piece of gold to go up a size. This is a much better method than thinning out the metal to increase the size. If the metal in the ring gets too thin, it could crack.
If you purchase a ring from Biondi and measure your ring size in store, you’ll receive a free 30 day adjustment fee at no charge. We will happily resize rings bought outside of Biondi, but please note that due to certain metal types and designs, not all rings can be resized.
3. Jewelry restoration
Bring antiques, heirlooms, or estate jewelry to Biondi to repair the jewelry or repurpose it into something new. Like most jewelry repairs, restoration projects often require gemstone polishing, prong and tip repairs, and possible resizing. However, restoration pays attention to period-specific details and seeks to conserve the original integrity of the piece.
